Grand Tour model of the Column of Phocas in Giallo Antico

A refined scale model of the Column of Phocas, the celebrated monument that still stands in the Roman Forum today. Executed in polychrome marbles, predominantly Giallo Antico with the base in black veined marble, the work reflects the nineteenth-century taste for representations of ancient Roman monuments created for Grand Tour travellers and collectors.
